No Spend Month Challenge

Cannot believe how fast January has flown by! Now that I am completely stocked up for the baby's arrival, I have decided to give my bank account a break, and challenge myself to a no spend month starting February 1st. I am completely stocked up on diapers, wipes, and all the essentials probably for the first year. I did buy some formula just in case the breastfeeding/pumping doesn't go as planned. The only thing I might need would be some sleepers, and clothing items if we have a boy. I kept all daughters clothes since she was a newborn, so if we end up having a girl we are def set for the next year!

Re-Growing Green Onions From Scraps

If you are looking for something super easy to do - try re-growing green onions from scraps. This would be a really fun project to do with your toddler too! I started the project Sunday evening, and last night when I came home from work they sprouted!

What you will need:

  • green onions
  • jar
  • paper towel
  • water
  • scissors
Directions
  1. After you have used your green onions, save the bottom white portion of the onion with the root. Trim off any green onion that is left with the scissors.
  2. Take your jar - I used one of my Ball canning jars, and add a paper towel to the bottom of the jar. This will give your green onions some support.
  3. Add water to the jar, and place the green onions on top of the paper towel.
  4. Put in the sun, and watch them grow! Make sure you water.
  5. Once they start growing, you can just trim off any green onion you will need to cook.

Dino Planter

It's Sunday, and cold. Today is the perfect day to do some crafty things. I love succulents, and dinosaurs. So, after seeing this craft on Pinterest, I decided to make my own. The hardest part was talking my daughter into letting my have a dinosaur - TO CUT OPEN. But, after her seeing it being sprayed with pink spray paint, it made it all better.

Pink Pout

Winter blues suck. Pink lips are def a nice change to the dark lipsticks I have been wearing.

To get this pink pout I applied Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Pink Lyric NYX, and finished it with Xtreme Lip Cream Dolly Girl NYX.

Easy Braided Top Knot

I love trying different braids in my hair. Since I don't wash my hair on a regular basis - I only wash my hair twice a week - I try to do different styles to keep my hair out of my face. So, I decided to try a top knot braid.

Tools:
  • Two ponytail holders
  • Hair brush
  • Bobby Pins
  • Hair Spray
First, I brushed my hair back into a high pony, and then hair sprayed the pony tail. Next, I started to braid the pony, and then tied the end. Take the braided pony and start wrapping it around the top of the main pony, and bobby pin it into place. It might take a few attempts to get it wrapped right, but you can mess around with it until it fits what you want. Total time - less than five minutes.

Review | Cinnamon Raisin Bread

When I first started doing Paleo, the thought of a Paleo bread just did not sound appealing. I have had some really awful gluten free bread until I tried Udi's. Now that I am eating 100% Paleo, I wanted to find a really good bread recipe. I am tired of eating eggs every morning for breakfast - and I wanted something to cure my sweet tooth. I found this really great, and easy recipe! This is great for an afternoon snack, or breakfast.

Nightly Skin Care Routine

I used to just do the basic nightly skin care routine - face wash, and a moisturizer. Now, I feel like I need to really have more of a nightly routine. Not only should you focus on cleaning your face, but you should focus on your hands and lips too.

The first thing I do is use a cleansing towelette to get my makeup off, and then I wash my face with a really good cleanser. After I wash my face, I will use Ponds Cream Cleanser to get off any eye makeup that didn't come off with the towelettes, or the face wash. When drying your face don't apply a lot of pressure with your towel, just pat dry. This will help prevent wrinkles. Next, I apply this wonderful product that I received as a sample in my Birchbox - Derma E Hydrating Mist. Once that has dried, I apply a moisturizer. Last I apply a great lip balm - LOVE Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, and petroleum jelly on my hands and cuticles. My skin glows in the morning!

Intro to NYX

Recently I have gotten bored with my makeup routine, and wanted to try something new. I see a lot of NYX makeup tutorials, and a lot of bloggers rave about their dupes. So, I decided to give it a try. I am addicted. Their makeup isn't expensive, and is really impressive. My first purchase, I just wanted to get some basics to see how I liked their product. I bought my first few makeup pieces from Ulta, but I really recommend just buying from NYX. They obviously have more of a selection than Ulta. Their powder blushes are pigmented, and last a lot longer than I expected.

Below are a few things that I started off with.
  • Powder Blush in Pinched (which is a dupe of NARS Orgasm)
  • Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam
  • Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie
  • Butter Lip Balm in Red Velvet
  • Illuminator in Chaotic
