Nothing is better than spending New Years Eve at home with your family, eating great food, and enjoying a great bottle of champagne! I am a Veuve kinda girl, so I will be relaxing on the couch enjoying my night!
2014 was an awesome year, and cannot wait for 2015! I hope everyone has a wonderful evening, and a healthy 2015!!
2014 went by too fast, but it was an amazing year!! After having Jackson in February, I started my practice again, and it felt so good to be back on the mat! I never thought I would ever accomplish a headstand, or let alone love inversions. I have become an inversion addict, but want to become more flexible in 2015. Cannot wait to challenge myself to learn more poses, and become a better yogi!
Here are my 14 favorite yoga poses for 2014!! Cannot wait to see what 2015 will bring, and continue to practice tons yoga!!
When it's 60 degrees in Northern Virginia in December you take your family for a walk!
I LOVE my Baby Trend Jogger!! It was a gift when I had my daughter four years ago, and I have had zero issues with it! It has held up, and still going strong.
If you are a new mom, or a mom-to-be I really recommend this one. I got the jogger, infant car seat, and base for around $200 at Wal-Mart. They have so many fun colors, but I registered for the orange to stay gender neutral.
Since smoothies shouldn't be consumed during Whole30's, I am getting my smoothie fix in before January 1! This morning I made a pineapple, strawberry, spinach smoothie with coconut water, and some maca powder! SO GOOD! Also, maca powder really helps with that extra boost of energy I need in the mornings.
I have seriously been slacking on my yoga practice. I need to start making more time for myself, and really focus on getting back on the mat. I started my practice again Friday night, and I went upside down. I love doing headstands, and just balancing. It really helps clear my mind, and start to focus on things again.
Glad to be back on the mat, and moving forward!! 2015 I will own you with my yoga practice!!
I buy wine by the label on the bottle - not going to lie. While cruising the aisle at Target, I found the most perfect bottle of wine with a very awesome label - Help is Here. Had to have it. It's the holiday's, it's busy, and I needed some help!
The wine amazing, and it did help. Sometimes I buy wine based on the label, and it's awful. This red wine was super smooth, and light. It wasn't expensive either - under $12. Love red wine, and a great cheap wine!
So, go now to your local Target, and pick up a bottle, or maybe five. Everyone needs a little help.
This weekend I am going to make so many paleo things! I finally ordered Great Lakes Gelatin from Amazon.com. I really want to make paleo marshmallows, and fruit gummies for the kids! AND I have been craving some hot cocoa with marshmallows so BAD!
I love my grocery trips to Trader Joe's, and COSTCO. I really like trying new food too!
When I was at COSTCO, I decided to pick up their brand of coconut water. It was $5 less than the name brand too! Right now I am stocking up for my next Whole30 January 1st, and Trader Joe's had a few items that I wanted to try before I started my next round. They have a dairy free ice cream made from coconut milk - cannot wait to try that!!
I was super excited to find the Live Kombucha Soda at Target! So, I picked up three - Revive Root Beer, Pure Doctor, and Culture Cola. I am really excited to try the Revive Root Beer, and pick up more flavors!!
Their kombucha is non-gmo, organic, and is great for promoting gut health!!
If you are looking for something other than potato chips to snack on, I really love Trader Joe's Roasted Plantain Chips!
Charlotte, and Jackson love them! They are a perfect to dip into salsa and guacamole, and they are great for snacking on the go. I am all about easy meals for the kids while we are out running errands, and these are perfect!
I like my meal prep to be really simple, but very healthy. So, when I need to plan I always grab some sort of bar, and a beverage.
LARABAR's are a great afternoon snack, and I really love Epic Bars! Absolutely love drinking kombucha, and juice too. Sometimes you need a break from water, and coffee. Evolution Fresh makes awesome juices that you can find at your local Starbucks.
Now that I have updated my nighttime skin care routine, here's what I am doing for my morning routine. My morning skin care routine is very simple, and basic. I use gentle cleanser for my face. After I have washed my face, I follow that with toner, eye and lip cream, and a sunscreen.
If you don't use harsh chemicals on your face, I really recommend the OSEA products. Their products are AMAZING, vegan, gluten free, and sulfate free.
I start off by washing my face with their Ocean Cleanser, and this also helps me wake up! It smells so good!! After I wash, I pat dry my skin, and use OSEA Sea Minerals Hydrating Mist. I spritz a little on a cotton ball, and gently apply to my face. This toner is great for sensitive skin, helps restore mineral balance, and reduces redness.
Next, I gently pat the OSEA Eyes and Lips cream under my eyes, and around my lips. It hydrates, it stimulates collagen, loaded full of antioxidants, and feeds the collagen fibers in your skin.
I am a big fan of always using sunscreen. My go-to sunscreen is Alba Botanica Kids Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Sunscreen. Alba's sunscreen contains no parabens, not tested on animals, and uses 100% vegetarian ingredients. I apply this to my face, neck, and hands. Don't forget about applying sunscreen to your hands!! Nobody wants wrinkled hands!!
A little late to post, but here's what I did for week four of working out. Not going to lie, it wasn't much. I did yoga, I ran, and I ate horrible on Thanksgiving. Started off eating Paleo, but that apple pie was calling my name.
So, I decided to detox Friday the 28th, by starting the gallon challenge. I am drinking a gallon of water a day. It might seem like a lot, but I come pretty close everyday already drinking water. Sometimes you need to have set backs to get you motivated again!!
If you haven't taken a spin class yet, I really recommend it! I took a class on Sunday, and I am still sore! This will be something else I will add to my gym routine!
As much as I would love Charlotte, and Jackson to be 100% Paleo - it just isn't always realistic. So, I am working on getting them 80/20. I don't mind them eating dairy as long as it's organic, and I would like it to be whole milk.
So, I decided to do a haul on what I am feeding my kids. My son is nine months, and is over baby food. He would rather eat the real deal, and that works out perfectly too! As long as they are eating clean that's all I want.
Here's a breakdown of what I buy - and I try to buy organic as much as possible:
blueberry gluten free waffles
organic yogurt - Jackson loves yogurt!! Trader Joe's makes an awesome yogurt for when you're on the go, and it's awesome frozen too!!
gluten free pasta - and quinoa pasta is amazing!!
organic pasta sauce
organic whole milk
gluten free pancake mix - big fan of anything Bob's Red Mill
black beans - my daughter LOVES beans
organic turkey bacon from Wegman's is the best!!
Cannot wait to post more of what my kids are eating!!
