Farmer's Market Haul

Going to the farmer's market every Sunday morning last summer was our family routine. I am really happy that our local farmer's market is open for the season!

I love to support our local farmer's market, and I love buying fresh produce that's in season. This also helps teach my kids healthy options. Plus, you know where your food comes from!

Support your local farmer!

Smoothie Love | Blueberry Superfood

I love this time of the year! The weather is getting warmer, and there are tons of fresh berries! That means tons of smoothies! Smoothies are the reason why I am hesitant on completing round seven of Whole30 - I am still trying to talk myself into this. You would have thought that month of eating crap food would have made me want to do another, but I really have to be 100% to start one.

Yesterday I started my morning off with wonderful smoothie:
  • one cup coconut milk - I use the So Delicious Brand
  • one handful of blueberries
  • one handful of strawberries
  • one tablespoon maca powder
  • one medium size banana
  • handful of ice
bracelets: doublehighfive

Mix everything together in your blender, and enjoy!

On the Mat | Energy

Yesterday I started my day with yoga, and ended my day with yoga. I have a hard time getting out of bed so early, but made myself do it. That is one thing I want to start doing - getting up and working out routinely. I had so much energy during the day, and felt less stressed.

After work, I ran four miles, and then went home to do some headstands. Headstands are a great thing to do everyday - it's all about that detox!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

Falling off the Paleo Wagon

The past month or so has been kind of difficult with eating Paleo. I was trying the 80/20 rule, and that just lead into other bad choices. I was allowing myself to eat gluten free items as a cheat clean options. I would just like to pretend  all the food I ate the past month didn't happen.

So, today I am starting fresh. Going back to eating 100% Paleo. I have noticed a change too. Some of my clothing is a little tighter, and I have zero motivation. I couldn't tell you the last time I went to the gym. For the past month, I attempt to start over (usually on a Monday), but it only lasts a few days. The carb flu sets in, and I just give up. I am not waiting for Monday's, or the first of the month. Bottom line, I feel like shit, and I am restarting today.

Now, if i could talk myself into another Whole30! I don't even remember what round this would be? Seven?

Back on the Mat

Yesterday, I decided to start my yoga practice again. The past few months have been really busy, and I haven't been able to keep up. Also, it's a lot easier for me to practice at a studio, and not at home.

So, I registered for a hot yoga classes at Stafford House of Yoga. I love doing yoga there! It's really clean, and the instructors are great! There's no pressure either.

Hot Vinyasa Flow is my favorite yoga to do. It's a great full body workout, and it's great if you want to detox - sweating everything out!

Glad to be back on my mat practicing again!

Healthy Eats | Costco Haul

I love going to Costco, and finding new things to try. This grocery haul, I picked up some canned salmon, and sliced apples. When the weather starts warming up I crave salads, salmon would be perfect! I also, want to try to make Paleo salmon cakes. We eat a lot of apples - the kids love the apple sauces, and chips. The pre sliced apples will make my mornings a lot easier for packing lunches too!

How to Cook a Spaghetti Squash

If you are hesitant on making any sort of recipe that requires a spaghetti squash because of the fear of hurting yourself. I have found the easiest option.

All you need is a spaghetti squash and a slow cooker. Just add the uncooked, whole spaghetti squash to the slow cooker, set it to low, and let it cook for three hours. That's it. You don't have to stab it, cut it, or fear for your life anymore.

My slow cooker cooks things very fast, so you might need to cook it longer depending on what you are using. Once it was done, I was able to slice it open with zero problems.

Easy peasy!

You are never to old to have a pink lunch box! I found my new lunch box Goodbyn Hero, Pink - at Amazon and love it! This lunch box is perfect for my meals at my desk!

Today I packed
  • spinach rolled up in turkey with a pickle
  • sugar snap peas
  • diced pineapple with blueberries
  • La Croix Orange
If you are looking for the perfect lunch box, I really recommend the Goodbyn! Planning lunch shouldn't be hard!

Wegman's Haul | Finding Balance

This past weekend was a little hard to stay on track. I didn't go to the grocery store on Friday, and I didn't have much planned for the weekend. So, I ended up eating food that didn't really go well with my diet normal eating habits. Like let's say pizza, and maybe a few pieces of peanut butter chocolate cups might have happened.

So, I made a plan, and went to Wegman's. I picked up a few new items, and my favorite things to make. The Mamma Chia squeeze snack packs are AMAZING. I plan on making bison burgers too.

I am not even beating myself up about eating pizza - it's all about that balance. I did feel horrible after eating it, but I know what does and doesn't work. It's also about figuring out what works well, and having a cheat meal every so often. Meal planning is a big part on how I stay on track with my meals - and I have been really slacking on that.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Healthy Target Options

While getting a few items at Target, I decided to take a couple of pictures of what they offer. You don't have to be Paleo to enjoy all these great products. They also have great prices too!!

Thank you, Target!!

Avocado Toast

I might be a little late to try avocado on toast, but it was really yummy! Since I am not eating 100% Paleo anymore - still keeping it dairy and gluten free - I need to find balance.

This morning I made avocado toast using Udi's Gluten Free Bread. I was kind of hesitant with the gluten free bread. The gluten free bread that I have tried before was awful. It had zero taste, and it was hard as a rock. Udi's makes a whole grain gluten free bread - and it was the best! If you're looking for a good gluten free bread, I really recommend Udi's!

Avocado Toast
  • two slices of toasted Udi's Gluten Free Whole Grain Bread
  • one avocado - mashed
  • red pepper flakes
  • one soft boiled egg - sliced
Spread the mashed avocado over the toast, place the sliced soft boiled egg over the mashed avocado, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
