dear dairy...

Dear Dairy,
It's time we broke up. It's you, not me. 

For the longest time, I stopped eating dairy. Then, I decided to introduce it back into my diet. It slowly started with Greek yogurt, and then I was back to eating dairy a lot more. Before quitting dairy the first time, I had these pesky pimples, and my complexion wasn't the best. After doing numerous Whole30's, and eating a mostly Paleo lifestyle, I noticed how great my skin looked. All those pimples went away, my skin looked amazing, and I was less bloated too. 

After reintroducing dairy back into my diet, those pimples are back, my complexion isn't the best, and I feel sluggish. So, it's back to a dairy free life again. 

I am a big fan of the So Delicious Dairy Free brand. They have coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, ice creams, coffee creamers, and yogurts! If you are looking for a dairy free option, I really recommend their brand!



Also, after reading a TON of articles on dairy, I just feel like it's the best thing to cut out of my diet. I am not a nutritionist, dietitian, or doctor, but I am speaking from personal experience. There are so many dairy free options now, that it really makes it easy to give up dairy.

summer garden

I decided not to do a big garden this year. After all the rain we had at the beginning of the season, and how busy it has been, I decided that I wouldn't have enough time to focus on it this year. BUT - that did not stop me from planting my sunflower seeds!


My kids LOVE getting messy in the mud, and watering the plants each day. It's also fun teaching them how plants grow. This summer we decided to plant a variety of sunflowers. They are so excited to see the small sunflower sprouts growing!


I love to garden, it's very calming. It's nice to hangout in my backyard and watch the little sprouts grow over six feet tall. Plus it's great for the bees!

A fall garden might have to happen! I wouldn't mind growing some kale, swiss chard, lettuce, and a few other simple things. If you are looking to buy seeds to start your fall garden, I really recommend Seeds Now. They offer organic, non-gmo seeds, which is great. You can buy little start packs for less than $1!

finding balance

Hello!

I am sorry for the lack of posts lately! It has been a lot of go, go, go and a lot less time for myself. Commuting over four hours a day, trying to find balance with family, marriage, work, eating healthy foods, and finding a moment to relax has been very challenging. You know - life.

Trying to get back into a routine after MONTHS of not being in one is hard. It's always "I will start Monday." Monday comes, and then something happens, and then I am saying "I will start Monday." Well, Monday's have come and gone for almost a year, and I have had a hard time finding some sort of balance.



I was eating 90% Paleo, but I felt like I was cheating on this lifestyle when I wanted a treat. I joined Weight Watchers, and love it (when I have been able to stick to it). I really don't want to do anymore Whole30's. Don't get me wrong, I love Whole30's , but I want to be able to find a balance between eating healthy 80%, and balance 20%.

Also, I want to get back into my old routine - yoga, running, working out, and eating healthy foods. AND posting more on my Instagram. I feel like that really kept me motivated, and since I haven't posted, my accountability is lacking. As silly as it might sound, it did keep me accountable. Posting my fitness routines, and sharing what I was eating - even if I was eating eggs, and bacon it was accountability.

Oh, and I also want to restart the BBG workouts for the 45,785 time. I am not going to lie - these workouts are challenging. When I bought the guide, I thought 30 minute home workouts shouldn't be that hard. NOPE. The workouts are hard, but you will see results. I was seeing results after three weeks, but life happened, and I am restarting AGAIN. It's not a big deal, I feel like sometimes things happen, and you have to find yourself.

I also want to thank the people that reached out to me to ask if I was okay, and telling me that they missed my posts. It really means a lot, and it's the reason I am back. Now, I need to head to Trader Joe's to stock up!!
